After Probyn retired, he never actually stopped his lifelong ways of self improvement, with a strong work ethic. He lived in New York, where he worked in tax preparation, and also trained as a paralegal. For several years, he worked in the Caregiver Resource Center at the Westchester County Office for the Aging in White Plains, NY. He was a regular and active member of the congregation at First United Methodist Church in Mount Vernon, NY. Probyn also spent several months each year in London, staying with his daughter Dianne.
